Families Connect Support Group
This is an 8-10 week FREE group offered only for parents and caregivers supporting a loved one with a developmental disability or a dual diagnosis. The group is designed to provide families with peer-support, self-care and coping strategies while providing education and valuable resources to help meet the challenges involved when supporting a child/youth/adult with dual diagnosis.
Sessions will include presentations from various community partners.
Topics will include:
- Behaviour Management
- Self-care
- Family Challenges
- Education
- Respite Support
- Autism Consultation
- Crisis Services
- Planning for adulthood

Frequently Asked Questions
How often do groups run?
Groups run twice a year, usually around the spring and fall time. One group is designed for parents and caregivers of children/youth (8yrs-17yrs) and the other group is for parents and caregivers of adults (18+).
Who facilitates the groups?
PCCN facilitators will collaborate alongside a community partner agency to facilitate the Families Connect Support Group.
Where are the groups held?
Groups are typically held in-person in either the Mississauga or Brampton area.
Are there support available for childcare/respite?
It depends. Unfortunately, this is not always guaranteed however we will try and explore funding to support families in attending the group.
